Are you starting to notice changes in how you feel as you age?
Having occasional hot flashes or night sweats? Perhaps you are approaching menopause and want to better understand your hormone levels during this change? Testing hormones with our perimenopause test kit is a step toward better understanding your reproductive and general health. Libido, menstruation, body thermoregulation, and metabolism can be impacted by your hormone levels.
The Everlywell Perimenopause home test for women provides a quick assessment for those who are looking for more information about hormone levels that may indicate a perimenopausal state.
This easy-to-use perimenopause blood test checks if your hormone level is within normal range for 3 key hormones involved in the menopausal transition. If hormone testing with this test reveals a possible hormone imbalance, you can share your results with your healthcare provider to better understand if you are entering menopause. If you are transitioning into menopause and are experiencing symptoms, your healthcare provider may recommend medication, menopausal hormone therapy, or other options for menopause symptom management.
What is perimenopause?
Perimenopause is defined as the time before menopause when the ovaries begin making less estrogen; this transition to menopause can happen slowly over time. Most women begin to notice perimenopausal symptoms in their 40s, but some women may begin experiencing the menopausal transition earlier than their 40s in cases of premature menopause. This test measures your hormone level for 3 hormones known to shift during the menopausal transition. Many of the menopausal symptoms women notice during this transition are due to changing hormone levels, so this test may help you better understand the perimenopause symptoms you are experiencing.
Our women's Perimenopause test is collected in your own home and results are provided by an experienced, CLIA-certified laboratory. All Everlywell tests are ordered and reviewed by independent physicians. This is a cost effective starting point for those wanting to take a first step in assessing their own hormone levels.
We will provide you with your levels for each of the 3 hormones measured in our women's Perimenopause test kit and whether your levels fall within established normal ranges. While a hormone imbalance may indicate you are entering the menopause transition, there are other possible causes for altered hormone levels, as well (such as a pituitary gland dysfunction)—which is why it is a good idea to share your results with your healthcare provider and have a discussion with them to better understand what your results may mean for you and provide you with proper symptom management or menopausal hormone therapy (if appropriate).
As with all our tests, we encourage you to share your results with your health care provider as he/she is best fit to offer guidance on your health and hormone questions, as well as answer any questions you have concerning potential menopausal symptoms.
By examining a few drops of blood during a specific time in your cycle (Day 3) with this simple at-home perimenopause test, we measure key hormones known to be instrumental in a woman's menstrual cycle. This allows you to check if you are experiencing a hormonal imbalance that may indicate perimenopause.
These hormones include:
- LH (Luteinizing Hormone)
- FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone)
Women experience a hormonal imbalance at key transitions in their life, such as perimenopause. Measuring these 3 hormone levels can help inform you of the changes your body may be going through and allow you to better prepare for the future.
Is this a menopause home test or menopause self-test?
Menopause is typically diagnosed based on consideration of a number of factors like age and menopause symptoms, and laboratory test results alone cannot diagnose menopause. Instead, this test is meant for women who are still having menstrual periods, but may have begun to experience fewer menstrual periods and/or are experiencing perimenopause symptoms. The results of this test allow you to explore changes in key hormone levels as you go through the menopause transition. Shifting hormones may be contributing to symptoms you are experiencing and measuring your hormone levels can help start a conversation with your healthcare provider about next steps.
